Shower mats can very quickly become unclean considering all the dirt that is being washed you and to the mat. When washing your hair, especially if it’s a long time you will find that it has accumulated to your bath mat. Due to excessive moisture in the bathroom, mold can develop very quickly on them so it’s important to give it a good scrub at least once a week.
When the wash shower mats you, take it out of the first bathroom; this allows you to clean the bathroom or shower area thoroughly. Some may be washed in the washing machine. Be sure to check the manufacturer’s instructions. After the mat is removed clean bottom of the bath or shower with hot water and cleaning agent appropriate to freshen up. When the cleaning process is finished be sure to completely dry the mat.
If possible, allow it to sit in the sun for long periods as the sun will kill residual bacteria that might still be in shower mats. Be careful not to put the mat into the dryer as this may damage it. If the mat is covered with mold, it would be wise to replace it immediately because it will be very difficult to clean without using harsh bleach, which can shorten the life mat.
